The 2016 AT&T MLS All-Star Game airs this Thursday, July 28, at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, UniMás, TSN and RDS. Arsenal F.C., a professional soccer team of the English Premier League, will take on the MLS All-Star squad at the Avaya Stadium in San Jose, California.
The MLS All-Star Game was founded in 1996. It is held annually between the professional U.S. league and an international club. This year marks the 21st consecutive All-Star Game with domestic soccer stars competing against world-famous talent. It is also the first year the game will be broadcast in Cuba. The news comes after a deal between the league and the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television.
Players for both teams are hand-selected by the coaches. Arsenal’s preliminary team lineup is slated to include top players like David Ospina, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Per Mertesacker. The U.S. roster is chosen by coach Dominic Kinnear, along with consideration from player voting and the All-Star Fan XI, a chance for fans to vote on players they’d like to see on the All-Star team.
The 2016 game will be action packed as both teams vie to be crowned the 2016 champions of the MLS All-Star Game. For the latest updates and additional information, visit http://www.mlssoccer.com/all-star.
