Connecting Your Devices to Your U-verse Network
In this video, we’ll show you how to connect a wireless device such as a smartphone, a tablet, or an e-reader to your network. If you need to, please feel free to pause, review a previous section, or advance to a new section of this video at any time.
To connect your devices, you’ll need your Wi-Fi network name and wireless network password. The AT&T wireless Gateway comes out of the box with a default set of wireless settings. If you need to locate those settings and have not changed them previously, look on the side of your Gateway. There will be either a white or yellow sticker that shows your Wi-Fi network name and password. The Wi-Fi network name is the word “2WIRE” and the last three digits of the Gateway serial number. The wireless network password is a ten digit number, either located between brackets or labeled as “Wireless Network Key.” If you’re using Mac OS X, you may need to put a dollar sign at the beginning of the wireless network password.
The first step is to make sure the Wi-Fi functionality of you device is turned on. You can usually find that in the settings area of the device. From the device’s wireless connection settings, search for available Wi-Fi networks in your area. Now, select the network to which you’re trying to connect. Enter the network’s password, if there is one. Then tap “connect” on your device.
For more detailed instructions on connecting your smartphone, tablet, or e-reader to Wi-Fi, please consult the users’ guide that came with the device.
