New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady and former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan are coming together to produce “Religion of Sports,” a documentary series that examines the impact of sports on society, culture and religion. The two are working with Gotham Chopra, a film director and son of the iconic spiritual guider Deepak Chopra.
The series takes you on a journey around the world to celebrate the power of sports and its spiritual impact. In many ways, sports embodies several of the same characteristics that you find in religion. In sports, the stadium houses fans with a focus on the athletes playing the game. Religion draws a similar parallel where a place of worship gathers people who turn their attention to God. Viewers will see how these elements come together throughout the “Religion of Sports” documentary series.
This season’s six hour-long episodes explore NASCAR, mixed martial arts, minor-league baseball and the rise of e-sports. Viewers will also get an inside look at the Calgary Stampede rodeo in Alberta, Canada and the rich rivalry of football clubs in Glasgow, Scotland. It’s a chance for people to see the intersection of sports, religion and media with a new perspective.
Don’t miss the original series available only on the AT&T AUDIENCE® Network. Tune in for its premiere on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. U-verse customers can find “Religion of Sports” on Channel 1114 and DIRECTV viewers can watch it on Channel 239.
