U-verse Installation – What to Expect
If you’ve signed up for U-verse or are thinking about it, we’d like to help you understand what to expect from your U-verse installation, and how to get ready for it. If you’ve signed up recently, please wait until after U-verse is installed to cancel your current service. That way we can make sure your transition is as seamless as possible.
If you rent or lease your residence, you should get the owner’s consent before U-verse is installed. If you ordered U-verse Voice, be sure to contact your home alarm provider on or before the installation date, to let them know about the installation.
At any time you can check your appointment status on our “where’s my tech” webpage, at www.att.com/uverseorderstatus.
For safety reasons our technicians are not allowed to move furniture or your personal belongings. So before the technician arrives, please clear the areas around connections, like outlets, and jacks, so that the technician can reach them. The technician may also need access to crawl spaces and attics. Also, please place your pets in an area away from where the technician is likely to be working.
We recommend that you check your computer before installation, to make sure it meets the minimum standards for handling your new Internet speed. Our PC maintenance tool is designed to run tests on your hardware and fix potential issues. Just go to pctoolbox.att.com, and download the software. Please note, the software is currently only available for PC.
On the installation day, an authorized adult who is at least 18 years old needs to be present, and available, to the technician during the installation. Your technician will give you a call, and let you know the estimated time of arrival. The installation takes about four hours to complete. The time varies, depending on ease of access, and so on.
When the technician arrives, he or she will review the order with you to confirm which products you want. The technician will then walk through your home with you to determine where the U-verse equipment will be installed. The technician will talk with you about wiring options and determine whether new wiring or jacks are needed. Your technician will also perform testing to ensure you will have the best performance.
When the work is done, the technician will spend time talking with you about our services, and answer your questions.
